The Limousines’ new album "Hush" is brutally honest

The band that met on the internet returned there to collect pledges for its newest album "Hush." The band, The Limousines raised $75,808 and with that began recording their new album. Why were they raising money? “If we raise enough money here, we'll be able to handle our entire to-do list; from recording, mixing, mastering, mass producing and distributing our music, all the way to the marketing and promotion and finally, hitting the road to support the album!” they share on kickstarter.com. The band didn’t feel comfortable with the decisions the record labels were making for them so they set out to produce their own album and on June sixth, their dream became a reality as their latest album was released.

The Limousines are known in the alternative rock world for their fun, catchy songs such as “The Internet Killed the Video Star” and “Very Busy People.” Their newest hit on their indietronica album is titled “Love is a Dog from Hell.” The retro song starts off slow and smooth and builds to a catchy chorus. With honest lyrics and a feel-good vibe the song is relatable and fun. The new album has an entertaining sound like that of its predecessor "Get Sharp" (2010), but contains more meaningful lyrics with songs about love (”Stranger”), loss (“Haunted”), lust(“Little Space”), and letting go (“Bedbugs”).

The duo made the album based off of personal experiences so they are easily relatable. Vocalist Eric Victorino’s honest, soft voice contributes to the truthful feeling of the album.

The electronica fused with alternative rock makes the everyday life events seem adventurous. Victorino’s hushed voice makes the songs seem distant and surreal. The songs transition easily and songs like “Hush” and “Fool’s Gold” slowly build to a pinnacle and culminate in a catchy repetitive explosion of sound.

The honesty within the lyrics and cool, gripping tone and rhythm make it an appropriate summer album for lazy days and long nights.
