Studies suggest more young adults turn to Internet TV instead of cable, broadcast or satellite TV — a trend Nielsen called “Zero-TV” in a recent study. The study reported the U.S. had more than 5 million “Zero-TV” households in 2013.

This year, Netflix is starting the first show written specifically for Netflix instant streaming, “House of Cards.” Starring Kevin Spacey (“Usual Suspects” and “American Beauty”) as Democratic House majority whip Francis “Frank” Underwood, “House of Cards” starts with the election of a new president, who Underwood expects will nominate him to be secretary of state.

Something about being back home for the holidays always causes me to regress. After setting aside 48 hours to hibernate and stuffing myself with as much homemade food as possible, I plan to spend the rest of break watching my old movies and reading my old books in my bedroom, which is still has painted-purple walls and my life-sized cardboard cutout of John Mayer.

It is possible you do not have time for books. In fact, in all likelihood you have an entire stack (let’s say right next to your bed, watching you disapprovingly as you instead choose to watch "30 Rock" on Netflix and eat Nutella with the wild, frantic abandon of someone who knows they have better, more enriching things to do. This could just be personal experience.) But, do you know what you do have time for? The internet!

We here at the alligatorSports Brand Picks Column usually make our picks each week without a second thought, exercising gusto, guts and a bit of bravado. However, we’ll all make picks come Tuesday that we’ve carefully considered, and we encourage you to do the same. That being said, the presidential race has featured plenty of mudslinging and with only 10 games separating first and last place in the Picks Standings, things are getting chippy amongst the pickers. We’re talking personal insults. Despite the bad blood boiling, we’re trying to run a clean race here. But hey, no promises!

Halloween is around the corner, and there is no better time to explore the spooky section of Netflix. But be warned before venturing alone, most horror movies on Netflix are scary because they’re just bad.

It seems like the fall season is supposed to start with new episodes of TV shows, but instead it didn’t start until this week when the weather finally changed. Thank goodness it did, though, because Floridians can only own so many tank tops before we start to look funny.

The alligatorSports crew will pile into the car today for a road trip to Nashville, Tenn., to watch Florida take on Vanderbilt. While we're on the road to the "Music City," what better way is there to pay homage to the county seat of Davidson County than by putting together a killer playlist for the ride? We could always crank up a little Elvis as we make detour to Graceland. Perhaps we'll all sit in stony silence as "Party in the U.S.A." plays on the radio while secretly freaking out in our minds. Nashville native Miley Cyrus is still hip, right? And then, who knows? We've been on the road at all hours of the night covering this beat like a bunch of "Ramblin' Men" and "Midnight Rider(s)," just like the Nashville-based Allman Brothers Band. There will be music, and there will be football. Nashville seems like a nice place.

I know you don’t have a lot of time to read. You have classes, studying and whatever. You also have a social life and “friends.” But being someone who also has those things (I swear -- all of them), let’s talk about this, you and me. I’ve got some book suggestions, and you’ve got at least an hour or two to spare. So because this month has been pretty heavy with news related to him, we’re gonna talk about David Foster Wallace, and coincidentally it’s one of my favorite things to do. Nope, that’s a lie, it’s actually my favorite thing to do.
