At 10 a.m. Friday, students will have the opportunity to purchase tickets to see the Dave Matthews Band at the O'Connell Center on Sept. 11, according to a UF press release. The show will also include a guest performance by The Wailers.

Students can bid on floor and level-one seats during a Ticketmaster.com auction. Bidding will close Aug. 30 at 9 p.m., according to the release.

Premier seats will also be open for purchase at the University Box Office for ,65 plus service charges. The first 2,000 UF students with Gator1 Cards will receive a ,20 discount on their tickets.

In 2004, the Dave Matthews Band caused a bout of controversy when it came to UF to perform and persuade Gainesville residents to vote against President George W. Bush, according to Alligator archives.

The band performed as a part of the Vote for Change tour organized by MoveOn.org, a liberal political action committee that raised funds to support Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., during his presidential campaign.
