The disbandment comes after the statewide organization found some members of the university branch violated its rules and values, including by engaging in “a recent antisemitic gesture.”
The action does not affect transfer students already admitted to UF. Freshmen applicants and those admitted through UF Online also remain unaffected.
Current UF interim president Donald Landry works under a $2 million base salary, not including bonuses up to an additional $500,000.
Starting April 24, all UF online materials, websites and mobile applications must meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. Faculty and staff are required to go back and update any course materials that do not already meet these guidelines, including Microsoft Office files, website content, social media and videos.
This is UF’s third presidential search in four years. Following the abrupt resignation of Ben Sasse in 2024, Dr. Donald Landry was selected by the UF Board of Trustees as interim president when Santa J. Ono, the University of Michigan’s then-president, was rejected.
Bove was elevated to Deputy Attorney General and then the 3rd Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals. His nomination to the latter led to over 80 former judges signing a letter asking for his rejection.
The project would remove an estimated 947 trees, including 67 designated as heritage trees. The designation applies to trees of notable size, shape or importance.
Last year, the university closed its Office of Sustainability, the entity responsible for implementing the plan, after 20 years of service.
On Thursday, the board moved forward with an amendment that would stop Florida universities from using the H-1B visa program to hire new employees for the remainder of this year. Public comment is available for two weeks, after which the board will officially vote on the policy.
The discussion, led by UF constitutional law scholar Lyrissa Lidsky, came after UF implemented a policy that limits when university leaders may comment on public issues.
