I am not affiliated with any Greek organization; I am, however, an alcohol awareness speaker for universities statewide and a UF junior.

The UF Greek houses were the first people to contact me for my presentations. In fact, they were so popular one night I had to run from one house to another. As a student, I feel as though most of your stories on the topic of partying, alcohol and drugs feature a sorority or fraternity in the headline.

As someone who has been in contact with all the Greek houses here at the university, I feel as though this community is unjustly characterized because of the Alligator's focus on Greeks.

Why don't the parties among students who are not Greek make the Alligator? There is no question that each Greek house is representative of the university, but isn't each student and faculty member responsible for their actions as UF representatives, as well?

Maybe we shouldn't be so quick to jump on the Greek-bashing wagon until we properly focus on the entire drug and alcohol problem for the entire campus.
