Beer fest boasts international brews for Kentucky game

Local residents can drink to their hearts' desire Saturday at an event with unlimited beer from around the world.

Ricki Black, the event coordinator, said the Greater Gator Beer Festival Part Two aims to redefine the ultimate tailgating experience at Magnolia Parke from noon to 4 p.m. This is the first time the event has been held in the fall.

The Greater Gator Beer Festival, usually held during the spring semester, offers a pre-party for the Kentucky game, which is ,25 at the festival and ,20 in advance at sponsor locations.

"We want people to know that we will be featuring 100 beers from all over the world," Black said. "We have beers from Armenia, China, Japan, England, El Salvador and Spain."

Event sponsors like Gator's Dockside, Hungry Howie's Pizza and Burkhardt Sales and Service offer a variety of wings, pizza and beer. Black estimates 1,000 people will attend, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Alachua County Humane Society.

Ultimate Towing and Burkhardt Sales and Service, a Budweiser distributor, will provide any patron their tow-and-go service.
