Gainesville police are looking for a man they say robbed the Campus USA Credit Union near UF's campus Monday evening.

Erica Doll, a spokeswoman for the Gainesville Police Department, said an unknown black male entered the bank, 1200 SW Fifth Ave., around 5:52 p.m.

The man covered his face with a green mask as he approached the closest bank teller with an open money drawer.

Doll said the man leapt onto the counter and yelled, "Just stay calm. Don't call the cops," as he pulled out a handgun.

The man then took off his backpack and stuffed it with ,2,203 in cash from the teller's money drawer before leaving the bank, she said.

Witnesses who saw the man leave said he took off his green facemask and mounted a bike resting on a nearby tree, she said.

There was one witness who got a decent look at the masked robber, said Doll.

Detectives are working with the witness to track down the gunman.

Doll said anyone with information about the robbery is encouraged to contact GPD.
