I am sorry to say my first experience attending an Accent event may be my last. After rushing to the Phillips Center from class, I was told (after only 10 minutes of admitting students) no more tickets were available. Fine. I was too late. No big deal.

I then made my way back outside to a projection screen where we were told we could watch Nye's speech. Even though we were crammed into a small space, and a large portion of the crowd had to stand, I still hoped I would have a good experience. However, after Nye started speaking, it became obvious that Accent was unprepared for a crowd this size.

The sound outside wasn't up and running for nearly the first five minutes of the event - something that should have been addressed in the 45 minutes we were waiting for the speech to start. Also, the picture quality was terrible. Nye was a tiny figure in the center of the screen. The whole bottom of the picture was of people in the audience.

If I couldn't be in the theater listening to the speech, the least Accent could have done was provide the best possible experience for those of us who were dedicated enough to sit on the grass outside.

Oh well, at least no one was Tasered.
