Police are looking for an armed suspect connected to a downtown shooting that took place early Sunday morning.
A second suspect was arrested and charged with aggravated assault at 5:38 a.m. Monday.
Antwan Maurice Maye, of Trenton, 25, turned himself in around 11 p.m. Sunday, said Lt. Keith Kameg, Gainesville Police Department spokesman.
"With all of the publicity that went out, we had a lot of information come forward," Kameg said.
Andrew David Arosemena, 21, was shot in the head around 2:20 a.m. Sunday in the Southwest Downtown Parking Garage near University Avenue.
Arosemena was a passenger in a maroon 2000 Lincoln Town Car and yelled "hurry up" to a blue car blocking the car's path.
Maye and Okpara Kehinde Nelson, 22, were speaking to the passengers inside the blue car, a police report stated.
When Arosemena yelled, they took offense and pulled out handguns, the report stated.
As Maye and the victim were arguing, Nelson reached into the maroon car and shot Arosemena in the head with his handgun, the report stated.
Arosemena was brought to Shands at UF with life-threatening injuries and died Sunday afternoon.
The owners of the blue car have come in and talked with GPD, Kameg said.
Nelson is being tracked as a suspect, and it is believed that he is heading to upstate New York, Kameg said.
"He's not proving to be the smartest or brightest crayon in the box," Kameg said.
Maye said after the victim was shot, Nelson kept saying it was an accident, the report said.
"Our prisons are filled with people who accidentally committed a crime," Kameg said.
Nelson, who GPD believes has left the Gainesville area, is still considered armed and dangerous, Kameg said.
"If he is seen in the area, we don't want anybody to take any action," Kameg said.
Instead, people should call law enforcement immediately, he said.
