I disagree with Mr. Simmons' argument that UF's student-athletes deserve special treatment because of the money they generate.

The money that comes in through the athletic department stays in that department. It does not get distributed to the university. If that had not been the case, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences' debt would never have been an issue because it never would have occurred. And I must say that I'm offended Simmons would ignore the money that we do pay UF, in tuition and fees. Athletics money stays with athletics, and student-athletes are brought in to raise money for athletics, not the university as a whole.
