Report: UF will not offer DE Sutton scholarship

UF verbal commitment defensive end Chaz Sutton will not be offered a scholarship due to academics, according to a GatorBait.net report.

Sutton, a Savannah, Ga., native, said he spoke with co-defensive coordinator Greg Mattison about the situation.

"What happened at Florida is I was on my visit and on Sunday before I left they said the Admissions people said I wouldn't have a good enough test score to go go (sic) with my grades until June," Sutton said in the report. "When I got back to Savannah there was all kinds of commotion. They said they wouldn't have a scholarship for me to sign. They said I should try to go to Hargrave (Military Academy) or something."

Rivals.com tabs Sutton as the No. 6 weakside defensive end in the class of 2008, a four-star prospect.

Sutton is ranked as the No. 36 defensive end by Scout.com and the No. 40 end by ESPN's Scouts Inc.
