The pro-life display this week on campus was the most insensitive thing I have ever witnessed. As a grandchild of Holocaust survivors, I am deeply offended by the Center for Bio-Ethical Reform and Pro-Life Alliance's attempt to compare the Holocaust with abortion.

Upon seeing the gruesome display, I approached one of the group's representatives to ask her why they made this comparison. The representative told me the definition of "genocide" and asked me to determine if abortion met the criteria of the definition. I responded by saying that Hitler and the Nazis systematically tried to eliminate the Jews and other groups through a master plan. The Nazis built death camps capable of killing millions of people for the simple reason that they were Jewish, Catholic, handicapped, black, gypsy or political opponents. The representative then said abortion clinics are just like Nazi death camps but never had the ability to explain why.

Pro-choice advocates are not shipping pregnant mothers in cattle cars to abortion clinics and eliminating their unborn babies. One can't compare the Holocaust to abortion - this parity would be calling the Supreme Court the Nazi Party. I had the opportunity to travel to Poland in 2004 to view the death camps at Auschwitz and Treblinka. The trip has forever changed the way I look at the world. Maybe these pro-life sensationalists should go to Poland or Rwanda before making inaccurate associations.
