Our prayers have been answered.

Cox Communications won the overall large business award at the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce's Business of the Year Luncheon.

And why shouldn't they?

They've only dominated the area's cable service for the past million years (give or take), so kudos to them. We can't even think of anyone else who would be deserving of such an honor.

The Editorial Board is pumped to hear about Cox's good fortune.

The next time our cable box suddenly decides it doesn't want us to order the Ultimate Fighting Championship pay-per-view, we'll just attribute its lack of compliance to a regional award-winning stance against violence involving shirtless combatants and chain-link fences.

And when the sound continually cuts out while we're trying to watch the Jaguars' and Buccaneers' games in HD, we'll just settle for the regular, non-HD networks.

Who cares that we're paying extra for high definition every month?

We won't worry because Digital Max is probably off shooting a commercial with the "Savings" of some random TV family.

We don't care what John Madden is saying, anyway; it probably isn't anything Frank Caliendo hasn't run into the ground already.

Does Cox have any real competition? It seems to us that Cox has about 14 hotels set up on Gainesville's Park Place.
