Redshirt sophomore linebacker Mon Williams, a converted running back, will transfer from UF, multiple media outlets reported Thursday.

Coach Urban Meyer has not yet commented on Williams' plans to transfer. The UF sports information department said Williams has not yet filed anything with its compliance office.

Williams has just one carry for two yards this season after missing last year with a torn left ACL.

He was, at best, the sixth option at running back behind Chris Rainey, Jeff Demps, Emmanuel Moody, Brandon James and Kestahn Moore. That doesn't include the carries that already go to quarterback Tim Tebow and receiver Percy Harvin.

Williams told the Gainesville Sun that "everything's been downhill" since new running backs coach Kenny Carter came into town.

"We never talk. Even when (Carter) comes around, we never talk," Williams told the Sun. "He'll only comment when something bad goes down.

"I honestly don't know why I'm not playing. Even the other running backs ask me why I'm not playing. … I guess they feel like I'm still protecting my knee."

Williams is the first reported transfer this season.

TARTT STILL UNCERTAIN: Offensive line coach Steve Addazio said the status of senior left guard Jim Tartt, who is recovering from shoulder surgery, will be evaluated week-by-week for the rest of the season. Meyer has said that it's a struggle for Tartt to get full strength back in his shoulder.

"It's real hard on him right now," Addazio said of Tartt. "He's just trying to rehab and get himself as strong and ready as he can. Absolutely a week-by-week deal."

UF's offensive line, for the most part, has still found consistency without Tartt, who is one of its captains.

"We obviously played our best game up front (against LSU)," Addazio said. "We played against a good defensive front, and we played consistent all night long.
