After awarding 2,710 associate degrees last year, Santa Fe College topped national charts by placing sixth in the nation in Community College Week's Top 100 Best Associate Degree Producers for 2009.

On June 15, the publication named SFC sixth in the nation for two-year institutions and 12th in the nation for four-year colleges that also award associate degrees.

The rankings are based on the amount of degrees awarded during the 2007-2008 academic year. At that time, the college was still Santa Fe Community College, a two-year institution.

SFC ranked higher than other Florida community college competitors, beating Tallahassee Community College, Hillsborough Community College and Brevard Community College.

SFC is continuing to further expand its institution by offering bachelor's degrees in applied science, clinical and laboratory science and health services administration starting in August, according to a press release.
