What’s the point of these articles? They list some of coach Butler’s accomplishments, praise her intensity and passion for the game, and then suggest her possible “downfall” based on comments from two former disgruntled players who abandoned their team last year as post-season play began.

As for Butler having a “special place” in her heart for point guards, Spurrier has his quarterbacks and Meyer had his special teams. So what’s the difference?

Despite UF women’s basketball being behind other UF sports in accomplishments, two of their 20-win seasons have come during coach Butler’s four-year tenure, plus four consecutive years of post-season play. That’s improvement.

While these articles appear more like tabloid “journalism,” some good may come of them. Perhaps this is motivation for the players to take this program to the next level. No yelling required. Or was that the point of these articles?
