The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Newberry man Wednesday morning on charges of sexually assaulting a 7-year-old girl.
Bruce T. Woods Jr., 19, was charged with a capital felony, and he was booked at the Alachua County Jail in lieu of a $750,000 bail.
He was arrested on a warrant after the alleged victim told a relative that she had been sexually assaulted by Woods, Sheriff’s Office spokesman Art Forgey said. The assault happened between the beginning of December and March.
Forgey said Wednesday that investigators are still trying to nail down a more specific time frame.
Woods was booked at 5:24 a.m. Wednesday.
