When a Gainesville contracting crew arrived to work on a house Thursday morning, they did not expect to find two men asleep inside.

Gainesville police arrested Joshua Beauvois, 25, and Angel Garcia, 34, on charges of burglary at 7:20 a.m. Thursday.

Trimark Properties contractors discovered the men inside a house at 202 NW 12th Terrace, according to a report.

Police said Beauvois and Garcia first tried to get into the house by smashing the backdoor’s glass panels and unlocking it from the inside. The men then kicked the doors in, which knocked them off their hinges.

Once in the house, the men placed a bathroom door where the doors they kicked in used to be. They later fell asleep on the floor.

Police could not determine the exact time the men entered the house.

On Thursday morning, Morgan Griggs and Jon Johnson, contracting supervisors for Trimark Properties, called the police after they found the men still sleeping in the house.

Police said the men caused about $850 worth of damage to the French doors, which one witness said were antiques.

Beauvois and Garcia are in jail on a $15,000 bond.
