A family spent Father’s Day in jail together after they beat up a Gainesville man.
Thomas Davis and his two sons, Randall Davis and Robert Davis, were all arrested on charges of obstructing justice and aggravated battery. Thomas Davis’ wife, Richelle Davis, was arrested on charges of obstructing justice and battery.
William Croft, 48, called police hours before about a domestic disturbance between his neighbors, Robert Davis, 21, and his wife, Cecelia Davis, 19.
The Davis family was upset with Croft for calling the police on Robert Davis and Cecelia Davis, according to a witness’s statement in an Alachua County Sheriff’s Office arrest report.
Richelle Davis, 45, went to Croft’s house and argued with him about his call to the police.
During the argument, Richelle Davis knocked Croft, who was drunk, to the ground with a “chest bump,” according to the report.
While Croft was on the ground Richelle Davis yelled, “He hit me,” which caused the Davises to run over to Croft’s from Randall Davis’ house.
Robert Davis punched Croft in the face multiple times as he lay on the ground.
Thomas Davis, 45, then kicked Croft in his groin as Randall Davis, 23, kicked him in the head once.
According to the report, police found Croft on his side between two blood-smeared cars.
He had spit out a pool of blood beneath his face.
Despite blood loss and multiple cuts on his mouth, face and head, Croft was able to say that he wanted to press charges.
