An extended bus route will help international students travel from the Gainesville Regional Airport to campus.

Student Government and the Graduate Student Council worked together to extend route 25 and give international students a temporary place to stay.

Student Senate Budget Committee Chairwoman Christina Bonarrigo said the route will cost $6,500.

The bus will take the same route but will stop at Keys Residential Complex and other areas on campus after 6:50 p.m. to midnight on weekdays and from 1 p.m. to midnight on weekends.

Students will also be able to stay at Keys or the Continuum apartments on Second Avenue for a $25 per night charge to their student account, said Graduate Student Council President Dustin Pfundheller.

International students can use their paperwork to ride the bus for free.

He said about one-third of graduate students at the university are international.

“You now have a bus to take and a safe place to go,” he said.

The bus will run until Aug. 14.
