Vice President Joe Biden will speak in Ocala on Wednesday to encourage early voting and support for President Barack Obama in the upcoming election.

The outdoor event will take place at the Discovery Center at Tuscawilla Park. Doors will open at 1 p.m. Wednesday for ticket holders, according to a press release.

Free tickets can be picked up at the OFA-FL Northwest Gainesville Field Office, located at 2727 NW 43rd St., in Gainesville today from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. One ticket will be given per person on a first-come, first-served basis.

Obama for America office locations at 21 North Magnolia Ave. and 3327 E. Silver Springs Blvd. in Ocala, and at 15437 U.S. 441 in Summerfield will also be distributing tickets, according to the release.

Gators for Obama co-chairwoman Rachel McGovern said she thinks Biden’s visit will draw a “great” crowd.

“I know lots of students drove to UCF [Monday] to see President Obama, even though he didn’t speak — Bill Clinton did,” the 20-year-old political science junior said. “It shows that people are definitely willing to travel to see the president and vice president.”

This event follows a speech by vice-presidential candidate Paul Ryan in Ocala on Oct. 18.

In addition, former President Bill Clinton appeared at the University of Central Florida on Monday. Obama was also due to appear but canceled in order to return to Washington, D.C., to prepare for a response to Hurricane Sandy.
