Police arrest woman after she attacked another, pulled her weave

An argument about a boyfriend led to the arrest of a Gainesville woman Monday after she allegedly attacked another woman and threatened her with various sharp objects.

Gainesville Police charged Lynette Christina Jakovlev, 35, of 2232 SW 35th Place, with aggravated assault and simple battery, according to a GPD police report.

At about 3 p.m. Monday, Jakovlev and the victim, Ida Felicia Mosley, were at a house party in the 2200 block of Southeast Eighth Place, GPD spokesman Officer Ben Tobias wrote an email. The two began arguing after Jakovlev asked about Mosley’s boyfriend.

When Mosley tried to walk away, Jakovlev grabbed Mosley’s hair and yanked Mosley to the ground, pulling some of her weaves from her head, according to the report.

While Mosley was on the ground, Jakovlev pulled a nail file from her purse and held it like she was going to stab Mosley, according to the report. Mosley picked up a chair to defend herself while Herman Miller, the owner of the house, disarmed Jakovlev.

Jakovlev then grabbed a pair of scissors from her purse and pointed it at Mosley. Miller also snatched the scissors from her, according to the report.

Jakovlev threatened Mosley again with a hand rake, which Miller took from her as well.

Jakovlev’s final threat was with a piece of glass she found in the yard. After Miller disarmed her for a fourth time, he pushed Jakovlev off his property and called police, according to the report.

Officers later arrested Jakovlev at Miller’s house. Jakovlev was booked into the jail at about 5:40 p.m. Monday. She was released Tuesday afternoon after she met bond.
