The Jones B-side is the perfect destination for a relaxed, yet trendy meal downtown. The atmosphere is great for a casual date, or just a dinner with friends.
The Jones focuses on providing local and organic food. The menu offers “new American” cuisine with vegan- and vegetarian-friendly options.
Most of the staff are “hipster,” sporting an array of tattoos, mustaches, skinny jeans and Dr. Martens. The service is friendly and helpful, but expect a short wait around dinner because it gets pretty busy.
I ordered the Inca Bowl, which had an egg, quinoa, black beans, sweet potatoes, avocado, salsa and cheese. There is the option to add more protein, so I ordered chicken on mine. It was one of my favorite meals I’ve had in Gainesville. There was so much variety in the dish, and all of the flavors blended together really well. I especially loved the flavorful black beans.
My only complaint was that there was hardly any avocado. I was expecting a good amount, but it was more of a garnish than a component of the meal. I asked the waitress for more, and I was charged a dollar for an extra slice of avocado. In my opinion, that’s a little ridiculous.
The prices are average. The Inca Bowl cost $9, plus an additional $3 for the chicken. But I think the quality of the food is definitely worth the price, especially considering all the vegan and vegetarian options.
