Kelsey Osgood, author of "How to Disappear Completely: On Modern Anorexia," pretty much compiled excerpts from different resources from women who are anorexics or “wannarexics”, as Osgood calls it.

The book is supposed to expose the “glamour” of anorexia and how so many women fall victim to the psychological disease. I gather that it’s supposed to make fun of the ridiculous desire of women to gain attention through developing an eating disorder.

Osgood explains through other women’s thoughts that the more young women are exposed to the harms of anorexia the more they want to become anorexic even if they don’t have the will power. This is what Osgood calls a wannarexic.

If any attention on the eating disorder is negative attention then why was this book written in the first place? To Osgood’s theory, the more women see how anorexics are treated for their disease the more they beg for the same sympathy and attention, thus glamorizing anorexia.

So isn’t this book contributing to the negative attention as well? That’s how I see it. Osgood is glamorizing the disease with this book, doing exactly the opposite of what she set out to do.

The testimonials and thoughts of the anorexic women almost make the book as fabulously haunting as "Girl, Interrupted."

Refinery 29 has a sneak peek of some of the articles from Osgood’s book that will debuted Nov. 14.
