In college it is no secret most of us have that widely known "college budget," also known as basically broke, so when it comes to buying makeup I don't like to spend a lot of money on high-end products if I can find similar products that work just as great at the drugstore.
Now don't get me wrong. I have some, what I like to call "non-negotiables," meaning products that no matter how expensive (which they aren't) or how hard to find I will always use, such as MAC's Mineralize Skinfinish Natural powder. It's my holy-grail product. But, other than that I rely on great products at the drugstore to get my go-to makeup look.
Here is a list of my favorite drugstore products that total about $30, to give you a perfect makeup look year round:
1. Rimmel Stay Matte Foundation $4.97
This is my favorite foundation, hands down. It's fuller coverage but feels light on my face. It also controls any unwanted shine all day long.
2. Rimmel Stay Matte Powder $3.97
This powder mirrors its sister foundation. It's very similar to my favorite MAC powder and helps me stay shine-free all day.
This palette comes with eight shades for less than $5. The colors are warm neutral and look great for everyday wear. The darker colors can also work for a great smoky eye.
4. Maybelline "Falsies" Mascara $5.49
Out of all the great drugstore mascaras this is the one I consistently turn to, tried and true. It gives me great volume and length and has a very deep black color that helps my eyes stand out.
5. e.l.f. Bronzing Set $3.00
This awesome set comes with perfect shades of blush and bronzer. It's super cheap and easy to use.
6. e.l.f. Cream Eyeliner $3.00
I love this eyeliner, it is super easy to apply with the included brush and stays fresh all day on both my waterline and lid. It also comes in brown and black.
This lip shade goes on beautifully and stays all day. This shade is a perfect red lip color, but there are also many other shade options for a more everyday look.
You don't have to spend $100 to get the perfect makeup look. These products are not only affordable, but also work amazingly well. Plus, most drugstores have reward cards that offer discounts on makeup all the time, and Wal-Mart’s prices are always great.
