A Santa Fe College student was arrested for drunk driving Thursday night after leaving Salty Dog Saloon, Florida Highway Patrol said.
Miles Davis, 21, was driving on West University Avenue when he rear-ended a grey Infiniti JX east of Northwest 32nd Street at about 11:21 p.m., according to an arrest report.
A responding state trooper saw Davis standing outside of his blue Dodge Ram pickup truck, which had noticeable damage on the front right portion, according to the report.
Davis told the trooper he rear-ended the Infiniti. The trooper noticed a strong alcoholic odor coming from Davis while they were speaking, according to the report.
Davis told the trooper he left Salty Dog Saloon earlier the same night and had consumed a few beers and about three shots of whiskey, according to the report.
Davis, who is a Santa Fe student according to his Facebook page, performed poorly on field sobriety exercises, according to the report.
Davis was arrested on charges of driving drunk and causing damage. He was transported to Gainesville Police headquarters, where his blood alcohol content was measured as .166 and .174, which is twice the legal limit.
Davis was released from Alachua County Jail on his own recognizance Friday morning. He could not be reached for comment.
