Florida lacrosse earns three spots on the 2021 Tewaaraton Watch List

Shannon Kavanagh, Cara Trombetta and Sarah Reznick were named to the list

Three Gators received bids to the Tewaaraton Watch List in its 20th year.

Midfielder Shannon Kavanagh and defender Cara Trombetta accepted their third nomination. Goalkeeper Sarah Reznick found herself on the list for the first time in her career.

An annually appointed committee of collegiate lacrosse coaches selects the Tewaaraton Award nominees. Florida boasts 17 players who earned 33 Tewaaraton Nominations in the program’s 12-year history.

Kavanagh, the AAC Preseason Midfielder of the Year, made the list in 2019 and 2020. The Smithtown, New York, native currently leads the Gators in points with 12 goals and two assists. She dominates with 24 wins in the draw circle.

Trombetta, an AAC Preseason Co-Defender of the Year, also shared a spot on the Tewaaraton Watch List in 2019 and 2020. The Holbrook, New York, native is tied with Reznick for the most ground balls (9). The fifth-year defender caused five turnovers.

Reznick, the AAC Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year, makes the list in her redshirt sophomore season. The Long Beach, New York, native ties with Trombetta for nine ground balls. The goalkeeper posted 33 saves for the Gators.

Any additional players will be announced April 2, before the list is reduced to 25 nominees April 23. Five finalists will be chosen in early May, and the recipients after the season concludes.
