Santa Fe College COVID-19 Update: Two positive cases reported in last week

The college’s total number of reported positive cases since March 2020 is now 1,102

Santa Fe College reported two positive COVID-19 cases from Nov. 23 to Monday. Both cases were from students.

There were two fewer reported cases than the previous week.

There have been 406 reported positive cases since the Delta surge in early March 2021. This represents about 37% of all 1,102 cases since the beginning of the pandemic, according to a report from Santa Fe director of human resources Lela Frye.

One student, but no employees, have been on campus while positive, according to Frye’s report. There have been no additional reported on-campus exposures or additional community spread from either students or employees.

The college requests that all students, faculty and staff perform a daily self-assessment checklist before going to campus. Masks are not required on campus, but the college encourages anyone visiting Santa Fe property to wear a mask indoors, regardless of vaccination status.

The college also requires students who test positive for COVID-19, experience any symptoms, or believe they have come in close contact with someone who has COVID-19 to fill out a confidential online form, disclosing any potential exposure or positive test results.

Santa Fe said it strongly encourages anyone who can get the COVID-19 vaccine to do so.
