Santa Fe College announced it narrowed its search for a new provost to three finalists Wednesday afternoon, after a search to replace Provost Edward Bonahue.
The Provost serves as the head of academics and a member of the President Executive Leadership Team. On SFC’s job posting, candidates should demonstrate intellectual and strategic vision and energy and integrity that inspires others.
The finalists include Jodi Long, associate vice president for academic affairs health sciences at Santa Fe; Margo Martin, chief accreditation and institutional effectiveness officer at the College of Southern Nevada and Irene Rios, chief executive officer and executive dean at Suffolk County Community College’s Ammerman Campus.
Bonahue stepped down in order to become President of Suffolk County Community College in New York. SFC expanded its foreign language classes and added 9 undergraduate programs during his 14-year-tenure.
Lisa Armour, the former vice president of assessment, research, and technology, served as interim director in the waiting period.
Long has held her position for ten years and previously served as SFC’s department chair of the sciences for health programs.
Prior to her current role at Southern Nevada, Martin served as the college’s vice president of academic affairs and acting president. In these roles she helped develop noncredit pathways for nontraditional students. The press release describes her goals as creating partnerships across the region to expand educational opportunities.
Rios organized a weekend business program for traditional working adults and designed a learning commons at the library at Suffolk County - Ammerman She served previously as a professor and said she shifted her focus to community college to maximize opportunities for underrepresented communities.
Within the next two weeks, each candidate is scheduled for a two-day visit to Santa Fe and will participate in community socials, open to SFC students, faculty and staff.
Rios is scheduled to visit campus Apr. 24 and 25, Martin is scheduled for May 1 and 2, and Long is scheduled for May 3 and 4.
