Gators redshirt junior quarterback Graham Mertz will return to Florida for the 2024 season, he announced in a Tweet Thursday

Mertz transferred to UF last season after he spent four seasons with the Wisconsin Badgers. He threw for 2,903 yards, 20 passing touchdowns  — both collegiate-career highs — and just three interceptions on the season.

He completed 73% of his pass attempts, which ranked fifth in the nation.

He played in 11 of Florida’s 12 games this season. Mertz suffered a collarbone injury against Missouri Nov. 18 that cut his 2023 campaign short.

The Overland Park, Kansas, native will be the veteran presence in a quarterback room with incoming five-star freshman DJ Lagway. He’s played in 45 career games and started 43 of them in his collegiate career.

His return comes after redshirt freshman quarterback Max Brown announced he would enter the Transfer Portal.
