Bite Squad introduces breakfast delivery to Gainesville

Gainesville early risers have another reason to eat breakfast in bed.

Gainesville is the first American city to have breakfast delivery provided by Bite Squad, said Liz Sniegocki, the Bite Squad spokesperson. As of Monday, customers can order breakfast from 13 restaurants.

Bite Squad is an on-demand restaurant delivery app. It partners with more than 11,000 restaurants in more than 375 cities, she said. The Gainesville delivery area covers from Southwest 170 Street to the Gainesville Regional Airport, at 3880 Northeast 39th Ave.

Breakfast service is subject to the times restaurants begin and end serving breakfast, she said. Some of the partnering restaurants include Chick-fil-A, Maple Street Biscuit Company and Mi Apá Latin Café. The service will be a permanent part of the app.

“Gainesville’s one of our strongest markets, so we do incredible business in the area,” Sniegocki said. “It’s just going to provide another level of convenience to consumers that was previously not available to them.”

The breakfast delivery option will be introduced to Minneapolis, Minnesota, the hometown of Bite Squad, next week, Sniegocki said. Bite Squad was founded in Minneapolis in 2012 and came to Gainesville in 2017.

Jonatan Rodriguez, a 27-year-old assistant manager at Mi Apá Latin Café, said partnering with Bite Squad has been beneficial to the restaurant. There have been 21 breakfast orders since Monday.

“When customers can use different kinds of options to still do business with us, that’s a plus,” he said. “It helps a lot to reach our goals in sales.”

Rodriguez said the most popular delivery breakfast items this week have been ham, egg and cheese sandwiches, Cuban bread rolls, and coffee.

Bite Squad previously did not allow customers to order drinks that were not canned, but now the company provides drink carriers with the breakfast delivery, which allows customers to order coffee, smoothies and juice from restaurants like Mi Apá.

Leslie Reyes, an 18-year-old UF criminology freshman, said she orders from Uber Eats at least once or twice a week for lunch or dinner, but now that Bite Squad has a breakfast option she might be changing her delivery app of choice.

“A lot of us are awake at that time just getting ready for school,” she said. “Being able to order that quick breakfast and have it delivered to us instead of going out of our way might be very beneficial.”
