For Gainesville City Commissioner Jeanna Mastrodicasa, the stars have aligned.
Mastrodicasa, former associate director of the UF Honors Program, said becoming UF's Student Affairs assistant vice president is the job she's been waiting for.
"I'm really excited about making a broader impact on students," Mastrodicasa said.
She will be involved with UF's Strategic Plan, which sets departmental goals and objectives for the Office of Student Affairs.
Mastrodicasa will help with annual reports for the office and the Reitz Scholars Program, a scholarship program for undergraduate students. Her job also entails answering the needs and problems within Student Affairs Divisions.
Ainsley Carry, former assistant vice president for student affairs, left the position to become senior associate vice president and dean of students at Temple University in Philadelphia, according to a department memo.
After about seven years of working with the Honors Program, Mastrodicasa knew it was time for a change.
"I'll be able to work with a much wider range of students with this job," she said.
"All the stars didn't align until now."
