Over 75 people gathered Thursday night in a church-turned-town hall to discuss the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, a budget bill passed by the U.S. House May 22. Endorsed by President Donald Trump, the bill faces a Senate deadline of July 4.The event, held in the Upper Room Ministries of Greater Gainesville, was hosted by grassroots nonpartisan group Talk About It America. A week after the NCAA Track and Field Championships put a bow on the collegiate season, it was the high schoolers’ turn to close out their careers and showcase the sport’s bright future. New Balance Nationals Outdoors (NBNO) at Franklin Field in Philadelphia and Nike Outdoor Nationals (NON) at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, were held from June 19-22 and featured a healthy dose of future Gators winning titles and dropping fast times.

Cars packed the bright green manicured lawn outside the Cotton Club Museum and Cultural Center. Inside, guests bumped elbows at more than 10 tables set up in the main hall of the historic building. They hugged the walls while a preacher’s voice carried throughout the room on the stereos.Tables were called up, and breakfast was served on styrofoam plates to hungry guests. Though the event was scheduled from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m., performances and speeches extended the program by an hour, wrapping up around 10 a.m.
