Legalizing marijuana is still a challenge for the Sunshine State

Colorado has had recreational marijuana legalized for one year now, and its effects are still hard to determine. Many questions still remain: Did it bring in expected tax revenue? Were there any devastating unexpected consequences? Should other states follow suit and legalize pot? Many in Florida are looking into Colorado’s experiment to find support for legalizing marijuana, but the evidence may not be totally available yet.

For many, February is traditionally “catch-up-on-Oscar-nominated-movies” month. Whatever films you missed will have an extended theatrical release after scoring their coveted Academy Award nomination. “Til Signing Day Do Us Part: The Craziness—In a Mostly-Good Way—of College Football Recruiting and National Signing Day

This year, February 4th marked what some call college football’s national holiday. Yes, the much-revered and looked forward to National signing day came and went once again with the same pomp and circumstance to which it has become accustomed over the years. This year’s class, depending on which scouting service you listen to, had either Byron Cowart, Trent Thompson, or Kahlil McKenzie at the top of the list. All of them are defensive linemen, which was a theme that was certainly prevalent at the top of this year’s recruiting crop as the “big uglies” generally took up about five of the top ten spots.

Parrish, Owens set program records

The No. 2 Florida men’s and women’s track and field teams finished the first day of the Iowa State Classic and the Tyson Invitational with 10 new personal records, led by program record-breaking performances by Bridgette Owens and Mark Parrish — both of whom eclipsed their own top marks.
