Freshmen countdown: The final month

The last day of the school year is in three and a half weeks. When I look at the calendar I can’t believe that all that stands between me and the end of my freshman year is 18 school days. Even though the end is quickly approaching it still feels hectic. I still have three exams and four papers before I can be finished and pat myself on the back for a successful first year.

After spending 17 years in school your brain can feel burnt out once college graduation hits. It can be hard to jump right into more schooling or a full-time job position immediately. Taking a gap year, a year off, between starting the next chapter of your life has become a popular option among college graduates.

We can’t be afraid of rocking the boat

I went to Lake Wauburg to go kayaking with one of my friends. We rowed around for a good little while, pretending we were pirates, then unsuccessfully attempting to get close enough to a bird to hit it with our paddles. It was pretty enjoyable.

Final Flop: UF loses in Elite 8 again

ARLINGTON, Texas — When the buzzer sounded Sunday, Florida walked off the floor as Michigan guard Trey Burke dashed to the edge of the court and held up four fingers. He then huddled with his teammates — each decked out in Final Four gear — and celebrated midcourt.

Gators earn first SEC series win

Florida’s pitching owned a Southeastern Conference opponent for the first time this season. Freshman left-hander Danny Young tossed 5.1 scoreless innings as Florida (13-16, 4-5 SEC) defeated No. 11 Ole Miss (23-6, 4-5 SEC) 4-0 on Sunday afternoon at McKethan Stadium to earn its first conference series win this season.
