Risky Business: Offshore drilling threatens Fla. ecosystem, economy

It is nearly impossible to find a silver lining in $4-a-gallon gasoline. But if one is to be found, it is in the fact that skyrocketing prices at the pump â€" and the resulting anger and discontent felt by Americans from sea to shining sea â€" are forcing our politicians to finally have a much needed debate on what should be done to solve the nation's dependency on foreign oil.

Fraternity gets 4–year suspension for hazing

UF's chapter of the Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity was suspended for four years Friday as a result of allegations that members of the fall 2007 pledge class were forced to do hours of physical activity and consume large amounts of alcohol as part of hazing rituals.

Court confines UPD traffic stops to on–campus roads

University Police Department officers are no longer allowed to make stops for traffic violations on roads bordering campus, such as University Avenue and 13th Street, according to a local court's recent ruling.

O-lineman Harrison commits to Gators

Offensive lineman Jonotthan Harrison has committed to the Gators, according to GatorCountry.com. Harrison is a four-star guard, according to Scout. com, and is the second offensive lineman to commit to UF recently. Naples High's Nick Alajajian also committed to the Gators less than a week ago. Harrison, a rising senior for Minneola's South Lake High, will join UF in 2009.

Tebow still makes headlines in the offseason

Tim Tebow was announced as the SEC Male Athlete of the Year on Wednesday. Former swimmer and Olympic medalist Ryan Lochte also won the award in 2005. Danny Wuerffel was the only other Gator in UF history that has won it in 1996 and '97.

Naples high offensive lineman Nick Alajajian has agreed to sign with the Gators, according to several reports. Scout.com lists the 6-4, 280-pound guard as the No. 1 prospect at his position. Rivals.com has him as the No. 3 guard.

“The Incredible Hulk” fails to continue Marvel’s success

"The Incredible Hulk" is an incredible disappointment. I had such high hopes for this remake after Marvel Studios' success with "Iron Man" and the film's reported box office numbers. True, this version is better than the 2003 "Hulk" but this film is still not up to par with what you would expect from a superhero movie.
