Sasse’s quiet first week follows loud first day

Ben Sasse’s first day as UF president began with an email to students, faculty and staff with high expectations to see them around campus. That same afternoon, students, faculty and alumni gathered for another protest against him outside Tigert Hall.  Despite the commotion of the first-day protest, a majority of students didn’t attend, and some were unaware that Sasse began his tenure at all.

UF pursues new accreditor

For the first time in its history, UF will be mandated to shop for accreditors between now and 2025. The changes to accreditation come in light of Senate Bill 7044, which requires Florida universities to seek new accreditors every five years. The Florida Board of Governors is tasked with finding potential accreditors for universities, a list from which universities can choose which accreditation to apply for, according to SB 7044.
