A Gainesville man was arrested Monday after police said he followed a woman inside Walmart and pushed his groin against her butt.

Scarlette Cuevas was shopping at the Walmart Supercenter, 1800 NE 12th Ave., at about 9:50 a.m. when a man began following her while playing with his penis over his shorts, according to a GPD arrest report.

When Cuevas stopped to grab an item down an aisle, 21-year-old Lavell Lorenzo Strong walked behind her and thrusted his groin against her, according to the report.

A Walmart employee saw what happened and immediately called police. Police found Strong outside the store’s entrance. According to the report, Strong ran away into nearby woods after police asked to speak with him. After about an hour of searching, police found Strong three blocks away from the store with a K-9 unit.

In July 2016, Strong was accused of grabbing a woman’s butt at the same Walmart, according to the report.

Because the couple does not want to go through a long process, Cuevas’ husband said they won’t press charges.

As of press time, Strong remains in the Alachua County Jail in lieu of a $10,000 bond. He faces charges of battery, resisting an officer and trespassing.
