Make a Difference Day encourages students to volunteer

Actions!, a community service and leadership organization that is part the Center for Leadership and Service, will host Make a Difference Day Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The annual event gives students an opportunity to give back to Gainesville.

Make a Difference Day is a national event dedicated to helping others through service and education projects. UF students will be volunteering at Idylwild Elementary School and Gainesville Harvest, a food bank. Pizza will be served afterward at each site.

Registration is online and open to all UF students. Students can register individually or as part of a group.

"These are issues that students can relate to," said director Nicole Jackson, a family, youth and community sciences junior. "They can act on them now."
