Gainesville Police arrested a local man Tuesday evening after he reportedly threatened to kill a man, the man’s brother and a woman before crashing into their rental car.

Shortly after 7:30 p.m. at Village Green apartments, Bernard Karim Robinson, 21, made some disrespectful comments to a woman, according to a police report. A man then confronted Robinson about the situation, and the two started arguing.

The man’s brother tried to pull him off of Robinson before the three drove away in a rental car to get away from Robinson, according to the report.

The woman, who was driving the car, told police she drove around before Robinson pulled up in a car next to them, according to the report. Robinson pointed his fingers as if they were a gun and threatened to kill them.

The woman continued to drive northbound on Northwest 13th Street before Robinson pulled up next to them for a second time and threatened to kill them again, according to the report. He then crashed his car into the front passenger side before driving away northbound on Northwest Sixth Street.

One of the male passengers was transported to Shands Hospital with chest, shoulder and neck pain, according to the report.

Officers arrested Robinson on three charges of aggravated battery and took him to the Alachua County Jail where he remained as of press time in lieu of a $6,000 bond.
