The women's tennis team might have the greatest ratio of injured players of any UF team right now.

Only two of the seven Gators on the roster will travel to the Southeastern Conference Fall Coaches? Championship in Auburn, Ala., which lasts from today through Sunday.

The rest of the team is nursing injuries ranging from pulled muscles to wrist and foot injuries.

Sophomore Megan Alexander and senior Lolita Frangulyan will represent the team in what will be the Gators? last tournament of the fall.

Thornqvist hopes to see improved play from the duo, as each player lost close matches in the first round of the ITA South Regionals.

He said each has made strides since then.

BIt?s going to be interesting to see … if they can translate that good play (in practice) into good play in the match,C Thornqvist said.

The competition will be challenging at this tournament because most of the elite players in the conference did not qualify for the ITA National Indoor Championships and will play in Auburn, instead.

Along with taking part in in singles play, the duo will team up on the doubles court, where Thornqvist would like to see them continue their fundamental and aggressive play.

BThey?re very explosive,C he said of their doubles play.

As the team finishes up its fall schedule, Thornqvist is focused on making sure his entire team is ready to go for the spring season.

BWe?re hoping to get everybody healthy at the right time,C Thornqvist said. BWe just got to try to get healthy, and that?s probably our main concern.C
