Harvin: I always felt Tebow deserved it

While Tim Tebow was busy thanking his teammates, they were busy calling each other up and congratulating him.

Here's what some of his teammates and coaches reactions to their teammate's Heisman win.

"I felt like he deserved it all year ," receiver Percy Harvin said. "It's been like that all year. He's been good with it all year. He never let it distract his playing. When he won it everybody called each other."

"He can beat you on the run or he can beat you over the top," linebacker Brandon Spikes said. "You just got to contain that kid. There ain't too much you can stop him, you can just contain him. You get in the drop and he'll take off and run. You get too low and he'll throw it over the top. Being a middle linebacker that's a tough assignment trying to contain him.

"He's a very competitive guy, and he gets me going a whole lot. He's the leader on offense and he tells me I'm the leader on the defensive side. When he goes, I go. Just knowing I have a tough quarterback. He's a warrior. That's the thing I like."

"I'll get some pent up aggression ," offensive coordinator Dan Mullen joked. "and start screaming at him. That'll get him right back to normal.

"He's so competitive and wants to be the best at what he does. We look at all the things he still has to improve on, it's pretty easy for him to get balanced back into what he has to do. It's an honor for me to coach someone like Tim."

"The comments he made and the way he appeared up there," defensive line coach Greg Mattison said. "That's what we're trying to stand for here. He just was an ambassador for our program. If you're a parent and you look and say, 'That's what's at Florida. That's got to be a great place.' Every word was sincere. That's who you want your children to be like."

Etc.

UF defensive end Jermaine Cunningham, who was arrested on charges of misdemeanor battery, was at practice Monday but declined to speak to reporters…Mullen said, even though he hasn't played, redshirt freshman quarterback John Brantley has learned the offense well and gotten more reps while Tebow has been in New York and Orlando….Mattison said a decision has not been made as to whether Mike Pouncey will stay on the defensive line or go back to the offensive side.
