There comes a point in every fashionable college student's life when you look in the closet and just think, "blah."

The shoes you bought when they were trendy just seem boring now, and your clothes look drab and lifeless.

But before making a giant trip to the thrift store with all your old clothes, consider these simple trends that can bring your wardrobe back to life.

Double hoop earrings are making an impression on the red carpet, and they can help make an impression on your humdrum collection too.

These earrings give you not one but two dramatic hoops to take your look from day to night and give your outfit some added flair. Take a cue from Rachel Bilson, who wore a pair of diamond-studded double hoop earrings with a strapless dress, heels and matching bangle bracelets.

Another way to spruce your stuff up is to buy a pair of architectural heels.

Nothing can turn an outfit around the way a stunning pair of shoes can. Try a pair of T-strap peep-toe platforms or heels with unusual cutouts and designs.

Add a pop of color to old outfits with some red accessories. You can transform a monochrome look, like a little black dress, by wearing red platforms or carrying a red clutch. Try brightening up an all gray outfit with some red flats or a red scarf, too.

Another trend that can transform your outfit is a black leather bomber jacket. This jacket can give your style the edge or even the sophistication it needs.

For an interesting combination, wear it like Ashley Olsen with a sleek dress or high-waisted skirt, or pair it with black denim and knee-high boots.

If your wardrobe is in need of an overhaul, don't get stressed. Just make something modern again by adding new trends.
