Several gunshots rang out on Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University's campus in Tallahassee on Friday.

No one was injured and five suspects have been arrested.

Emergency alerts, including text messages, warning those on campus to stay away from the area, were sent out within minutes of the incident, according to a FAMU news release.

After FAMU police broke up an argument on campus, those involved went to their cars, where the shooting began around 1:50 p.m., the release stated.

Only one of the five suspects arrested was a FAMU student.

One was a student at Bethune-Cookman University, another was a student at Tallahassee Community College and the two others were not students, the release stated.

FAMU Police Chief Calvin Ross could not be reached for comment.
