In the last couple of days there have been a number of comments posted to the Alligator Web site with complaints about the site being down and finding articles difficult.
I'd like to explain that my staff of three and I are still learning how to modify the new system so that everything appears in its proper place and is easy to identify. We work three or more hours each night, but because the next day's articles still have to go up, there is little time left over for tweaking.
We don't know why the site goes down so often, but we do know that it is unnacceptable for a news site to be inaccessible. This is our current priority.
The articles from the old site are not up yet because we have to reformat 10,000 files. You can find older articles by typing "site:alligator.org searchterm" into Google search, and then click on the "cached" link under the desired result.
We just fixed the RSS links on Thursday, so for those of you that use feed readers, the Alligator will now come to you. If you use Twitter, we also have a Twitter account, under the username "thealligator."
I hope you understand that we are working on fixing things, and I will continue to post fixes as they occur.
