MID NINTH
Kyle Mullaney is in to pitch the last inning. It's probably safe to assume that he is no longer the Gators' Friday night starter.
He gets out of the inning unscathed and the Gators pick up a 15-0 win.
END OF EIGHTH
Pigott is having a great day. He picks up his third hit of the day, to break up what would have been a 1-2-3 inning.
Townsend keeps the momentum going as he draws a walk. Let's see if Evan Chambers can pick up his first career hit. And he does, as he drives in a run with a single to left field. Hampton Tignor picks up his first career homer in his next at-bat, with a blast over the left-center field wall.
Den Dekker doubles to center. Apparently the Gators want to make up for the three innings where they failed to score.
Freshcorn is at-bat again, and his second career swing results in his third career RBI as he singles into center.
MID EIGHTH
Stephen Locke is on the mound to start the second. Different pitcher, same result as the Camels are sent back to their dugout with nothing to show for it.
END OF SEVENTH
Jon Townsend gets the inning started right for the Gators, reaching base on a throwing error by the third base man and advancing to third.
Hampton Tignor drives in Townsend with a single to right field to end the Gators' scoring drought. The Gators lead 8-0.
Chris Freshcorn's first career swing results in his first career homer. Hopefully for Freshcorn, he can somehow get that ball back. The Gators lead 10-0.
Figueroa grounds out to end the inning.
MID SEVENTH
Cody Barnes is in to pitch now and he's gotten off to a less than solid start. The right-hander has allowed a double, a single and just one strikeout. He'll attempt to get out of trouble with a man on first and third.
Barnes gets out of the inning unscathed as he forces a strike out and forces a ground out against the next two opponents.
END OF SIXTH
McArthur and Barber record two consecutive outs to start the inning. The pair are a combined 0-6 tonight. Pigott brings the inning to end with a fly out to right field. After scoring at least two runs in each of the first three innings, the Gators have failed to record a run in each of the last three. You can deal with things like that when you're up 7-0 though.
MID SIXTH
Lawler's night is done. His final line is 5 innings pitched, three hits, one walk and no strikeouts. Figueroa turns a great 6-3 double play that brings the crowd to it's feet. It's fair to say that Figueroa's gotten off to a torrid start this season.
Causey strikes out to end the inning.
END OF FIFTH
After two more men reach base it's time for another pitching change. Trevor Smith is on the mound now and hoping to stop the bleeding. Though when you're down seven this looks more like grabbing a band-aid when you're in need of stitches.
Figueroa flies out to left field to end the threat of anymore runs.
MID FIFTH
I'm getting a bit tired of writing that the Gators are playing solid defense but there isn't much else to say. Lawler just forced his 11th, 12th and 13th into his pop outs.
END OF FOURTH
Two quick outs after a McArthur ground out and a Barber fly out to deep left field. Pigott gets the inning started for the Gators offensively with a double into center.
Townsend can't make anything happen as he flies out. This is the first inning in which the Gators haven't scored. I'd say that's a moral victory for the Camels.
MID FOURTH
Lawler and the Gators' defense are mechanical. They've forced two quick outs to start yet another inning. As I write that Ryan Hamme singles to left-center. I've got to stop saying things like that.
Ellis Lowe singles to put two men on for the Fighting Camels. Could this be the beginning of a comeback? The answer to that is no as Braswell flies out to left field.
END THIRD
The Camels are getting a bit sloppy as Evan Chambers reaches base on another error. The Gators are threatening once again as Teddy Foster draws a walk with two outs.
Matt den Dekker smacks his second homer over the right field wall to give the Gators a 7-0 lead. Yes indeed, the beat down is on.
I'm in shock a Cole Figueroa at-bat didn't end in him getting on base. I'm not sure what to make of this. We can only hope Hank Steinbrenner completes his task of "setting the universe in order," because I'm not sure if I can take this.
MID THIRD
Two more fly outs for the Camels to start the inning. Is Lawler pitching as well as he appears or does Campbell just not have much power. I'd say it's a little of both. As if in response to to my comment Brian Gana hits a ball to the warning track that falls safely into the glove of Matt den Dekker.
END OF SECOND
Just when it looks like the Gators may go away quietly this inning with one man on and two outs, Clayton Pisani drives in den Dekker on a double to left-center. The Gators lead 3-0.
Cole Figueroa is at bat and we all know what that means: He got on base some way, some how. This time he drew a walk with McArthur at the plate.
McArthur reaches base as SS Zach Johnson misplays a grounder and McArthur gets to second and Pisani scores. The Gators lead 4-0.
Barber flies out to center field to end the inning.
MID SECOND
Lawler is rolling right along in this inning with two consecutive pop outs. And as I write that, Ellis Lowe singles into left field.
Lawler comes out unscathed as he forces Bryan Braswell into a pop out. That's the fifth pop out Lawler has forced today. This is the type of game coach Kevin O'Sullivan likes to see from his pitcher.
END OF FIRST
Cole Figueroa continues his assault on opposing pitching staffs as doubles into left field on a 3-2 pitch, scoring Den Dekker from 1st. Is it safe to say the beat down is on once again?
Johnathan Pigott has a chance to break the game open after Bryson Barber draws a walk. Just as I write that he sends an RBI double into right field, driving in Figueroa. The Gators lead 2-0
Townsend ends the inning on a short pop out. Another solid inning for the Gators against a team they've scored 19 runs against in just 10 innings.
MID FIRST
Travis Lawler has gotten off to a pretty good start, forcing two pop outs and a grounder that should have been an easy out at 1st if Jon Townsend had been able to handle it.
Lawler forces Brandon Scott into a ground out. Good inning for Lawler who appears intent on bringing his 12.27 ERA down to a respectable level.
PREGAME
There are a couple changes in the Gators' lineup today. Josh Adams is out with an undisclosed injury. I'll try and find out what it is after the game. Avery Barnes is sitting out today's game and freshman Evan Chambers is starting at left field. Teddy Foster is starting at catcher and Bryson Barber is at DH.
Travis Lawler is on the mound for the Gators and will face off against Camel's right-hander Josh Fish.
