UF fans are going to have to wait a little longer to find out if Gainesville will be named "TitleTown USA."

ESPN executives decided Wednesday that they would delay the announcement of the winning town until Monday. It was originally scheduled for Sunday at 6 p.m.

According to SportsCenter Senior Coordinating Producer Glenn Jacobs, the announcement was pushed back so that ESPN could return to the winning city and present the 3-foot tall trophy in person.

Online voting began Wednesday night and will run through Sunday afternoon.

The winner will be crowned live Monday on the 6 p.m. edition of SportsCenter.

One person that doesn't seem to mind the additional day of anticipation is UF alum, and ESPN reporter, Erin Andrews.

"The people in Gainesville are just going to have to wait an extra day to get that trophy then," Andrews said. "I don't know if there will be enough room in the case though. They might have to move around some of those crystal balls."

Despite being one of the smaller cities in the competition, Gainesville had one of the largest turnouts of any city on the show. An estimated 700 fans showed up for the taping.

While many fans question whether or not a smaller city can compete with metropolises like Boston and Los Angeles, SportsCenter anchor John Anderson said he believes the town with the best story will receive the most votes.

"People love the small-town stories. It's all about the connection with the community," Anderson said. "That's what sports are all about."

Anderson, a native of Green Bay, Wis., is confident that his hometown is the only true "TitleTown USA."

"I just want to thank the 19 runners up," he said.

When asked if she felt that Green Bay was the rightful owner of the nickname, Andrews responded with a nod to her favorite UF quarterback.

"I don't think Superman wears No.4 pajamas," she said.
