More comments from Georgia players about celebration, Gators

HOOVER, Ala. - Georgia wide receiver Mohamed Massaqoui and defensive tackle Jeff Owens also answered questions about the infamous touchdown celebration against the Gators last season.

"You know that they're going to be gunning for us after the celebration," Owens said.

Then, he thought he better be safe and emphasize this: "That we did not plan."

Owens also said he was caught by surprise, and decided to join in with the crowd when his teammates took off for the field.

"I saw everybody else do it, so I did it," Owens said. "I didn't want to be the last one that the cameras look at the bench and I'm sitting there. … It fired us up big time."

Massaqoui followed suit, saying the celebration will make this year's Nov. 1 contest all the more intense.

"That game's the one all the fans have circled on their calendars," Massaqoui said. "But with that rivalry lately, Florida has won twice as many as we have, but we still have pride and something to prove."

Neither Bulldog wanted to talk much about a national championship possibility, both saying that they have to take things one game at a time. If there's one cliche that every sportswriter hates, it's the "one game at a time" line. Seriously, guys, come up with something better.

Also, something I neglected to mention yesterday for some reason was Urban Meyer's comments about a impromptu footrace between Gators speedsters Chris Rainey and Jeff Demps. Demps, who has run a 10.01-second 100-meter dash, was actually beaten by Rainey. Rainey, as you well know, has a history of challanging people to races and competed against students in The Swamp at the Orange and Blue Debut in Apri.

"Everyone saying how fast [Demps] is so they said 'Let's go in the back of dorms, let's figure this thing out,'" Meyer said. "They raced. I guess Chris nudged him out. So we got some speed. I'd like to watch that. I wasn't there, but I would have liked to.

Could have probably sold about 10,000 tickets for that," Meyer joked. "ESPN GameDay probably would have been there as well."

Yeah, this UF team should be fast.
