I hate you, June Jones.

There, I said it.

But it's not for the reasons you would think. It's because, after making comments about Tim Tebow being a system quarterback that was equal parts hilarious and arrogant, he ran out on us all and took a job at Southern Methodist after last year.

As a sportswriter, I feel robbed on multiple levels. First, he robbed us of a built-in storyline for a game where the Warriors' best performance may come from their patented pregame dance. Secondly, he robbed us from seeing that funny, sarcastic side of Tebow that we all know he has in him.

I know Tim is probably fit to give children baptisms in between touchdown passes, but when you're an athlete of his caliber, there's no way you don't have a bit of an ego.

Do you remember what he said when asked about Jones' comments and about former Hawaii quarterback Colt Brennan?

"I think he's a good quarterback, and he runs a good system."

On the surface this seems like your run-of-the-mill, safe response. But seeing the smirk on Tebow's face when he said it, there was definitely a little bite to it.

Especially since Jones was attempting to make the case that Brennan was an NFL-caliber quarterback running an NFL passing attack.

By the way, Hawaii runs the run-and-shoot, and while I am not Sports Illustrated's Peter King, I'm pretty sure no one in the NFL runs anything resembling the run-and-shoot. You'd think he were running the West Coast offense down there or something, but what do I know?

One thing I do know is Tebow ran the run-and-shoot in high school and was mildly successful with it. By mildly, I mean he broke several records.

It's safe to say Tebow would have enjoyed pounding Hawaii with Jones at the helm. Maybe there's some way we can get SMU to play here tomorrow instead of the Warriors.

"That wouldn't be bad, either," Tebow said. "I'm sure they run a good system over there."

And what about his teammates? I'm sure his receivers want a piece of good old June.

"I'm not touching that one," wide receiver Louis Murphy said with a laugh.

That laugh said everything to me. But Jones cost us all this June by running out for the big bucks at SMU (though I must admit that I didn't know SMU had the big bucks to offer). The highlight of the season for me would have been someone asking June what he thought of the Gators system after what would likely have been a rather embarrassing loss.

I guess I'll have to live with imagining Tim running across to Hawaii's sideline after throwing a 25-yard strike to Murphy and saying, "How do you like my system?"

But it will never be.
