Pouncey twins confusion draws laughs, as does Senator Ahmad Black

I just got back from interviews after Gators football practice, and I have couple great stories from the interviews.

The first comes courtesy of the always entertaining Pouncey twins. The sports information department initally brought Maurkice Pouncey out to talk to us, but they were under the impression that it was Mike. As were all the reporters.

After a couple initial questions, Sports Editor Brian Steele asked Maurkice how he felt about being named offensive player of the week by coach Urban Meyer.

"That wasn't me," Maurkice said. "That was Mike."

"I can't tell the difference between you two," Steele said.

Laughter ensued, and when asked if that confusion had ever happened before, Maurkice jokingly said "No."

Eventually, the media relations people figured out they had got the wrong Pouncey, and sent Mike out to talk as well. Twice the Pounceys, twice the fun.

Another great nugget from them came when we found out they're taking a class they simply refer to as "Soils." They're heading to their soil tutor tonight, and are upset they can't get a nicer meal than Gator Dining because of the tutor.

"It's pretty tough on us," Maurkice said.

The other funny story came from Ahmad Black, who walked out of the locker room with a freshly shaved head.

"I had to look presentable," Black said. "Like a senator."

After a pause in the questions, The Miami Herald's Joe Goodman asked him if he realized he just earned himself a nickname, and then followed that with asking Black what law he would pass if he was a senator.

"One law?" Black said. "Shit, I don't know."

Who does Senator Black endorse in the presidential race in November?

"Who do I want as President?" Black said. "I haven't really been looking at none of that, to be honest."

"You're on the fence about everything!" Goodman exclaimed.

"I'm really just focusing on the president of Miami right now," Black countered.

Black also took a good-natured shot at running back/kick returner/wide receiver Brandon James.

When asked if he stands up when James is going to get the ball, Black simply replied, "We stand up anyway. He's so short, you've got to stand."

I think that's all the funny stuff from practice today. You're welcome.
